Kat and Phoebe discuss the kissing of cheeks, the petting of pets, the cancellation of Junot Diaz, and the intolerable slander of Seinfeld by a New Yorker essayist. LINKS: Ben Smith on Junot Diaz, notorious cheek-kisser: https://www.semafor.com/article/11/27/2022/junot-diaz-in-limbo
This discussion about private space reminded me that after I immigrated to the US, my DC co-worker and friend told me that those of us from Eastern Europe have a messed-up understanding of private space and she always feels I am standing too close to her. I was also thinking that "the introvert" was such a popular theme on tumblr back in 2011-2012. Like it was so cool to admit that you were an introvert. I don't think this is all downstream from there but: 2010s tumblr introvert+2016 increasing polarization+2018 rise in pop psychology boundaries discourse+2020 pandemic.
Off topic, but did you two ever cover an author named Gretchen Felker-Martin. She (if that’s the correct pronoun) has a dystopian sci fi about post apocalyptic trans men hunting cis men for testosterone and being pursued by murderous TERFs. Roxane Gay just sent out a rave review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5127224759
I liked Seinfeld during the mid-90’s; an era I look back upon romantically. No other show did what Seinfeld did. Each character was a flawed human navigating daily life. The fun part was watching character A interact with character B; in a situation Seinfeld designed to maximize difference. It was funny. Kramer was my favorite.

Anyhow, sounds like a topic.
My dog’s greatest joy in life is nonconsensually shoving his tongue up my my spouse’s nose. The pets are weird.
